31 AND STILL COUNTING..........

I know many of you who don't get to see us much have been asking about how things are going, so I thought I would give you a quick update.  So far, this blog has been kind of quiet with little drama (some may say it's boring), but I thank God for that boring/little drama.  Things could be worse at this time and we are so thankful that Ali is still healthy and going strong.  Tomorrow is our 31 week mark.........one week away from our second goal of 32 weeks.  By now, the babies are a little over 3 lbs each, which means if they were to be born today, they would have a very good chance of doing well from the start.  Our final goal is 35-37 weeks.  Average birth for triplets is 33 weeks and the most the doctor will let us go will be 37 weeks.  So that means, these babies will be here before the end of Jan.  Scary to think how fast these past 7 months have been.  We really are blessed to have made it this far and we thank all of you for your prayers.

Our biophysicals have been PERFECT so far.  We had one last Wed and this Wed and all three babies got a PERFECT 10.  :)

The test looks for spinal and limb movement, fluid, heartrate and breathing and ranks them 2 points each.  If they get an 8 or less, the doctor is notified and if the score is below 8 you may have to stay overnight in the hospital.  Like I said, so far we have gotten perfect tens for each baby.  We are proud and happy to know we don't have any problems.  After our last appointment we got to take a tour of the neonatal intensive care unit in the hospital.  We were in there no more than 2 mins before Ali and I were in tears.  Neither one of us have ever seen babies so small, innocent and helpless that are fighting for their lives.  It is so sad to see such a tiny life, struggling to breath...........but it is amazing to know what medicine can do and how these little lives can be saved.  We got a tour of the whole center and most likely our babies will have to be in there for at least a few days.  It all depends on how well they are doing.  If there are any problems, a few days stay, could quickly turn into a few weeks to months.

At this point, all we can do is stay healthy, happy and keep Ali's belly full of good food and water. :)
